My wife and I started NuGardens because we wanted to eat the freshest greens that we could find for our family to enjoy. Coming from India, my wife was used to being surrounded by fresh produce and locally grown greens. The quality of greens available in our local marketplace left a lot to be desired, so we started growing herbs and greens in our backyard. Once baby Asmara came into the picture, we decided to step up our food game and came across microgreens. More nutritious, easier to grow, and faster harvest times we were sold. With the baby on the way knew that we would have less time to tend our little garden in the backyard. We had to figure out how to grow more with spending less time doing the work. This is where my background in the technology sector and experience growing up on a farm came into play. With our limited space and resources, we had to grow vertically. We started with a simple A-frame design, and it allowed us to grow more plants in the same amount of space. With the A-frame, I was able to convert from growing in soil to hydroponics a soilless grow method. We decided to grow using hydroponics, as it meant using less water. The next step was to introduce automation and sensors to cut down on the time we spent on the plants. Over time I continued to upgrade our system to where we are now.
Indoor microclimates, advanced hydroponics, efficient led lighting, growing vertically. We now grow 4x the food in the same space as we had outdoors. Now we want to share our nutritious microgreens with you and your family.
